The long line of multi-coloured vehicles that make the Cavalcade Tour provided more than just a side attraction to PETRONAS Le Tour de Langkawi 2023 where they also gave an air of festivity to Asia’s premier cycling race.
This year, the Cavalcade is perhaps one of the biggest in its history where around 32 cars traverse the daily routes that made this year’s PETRONAS Le Tour de Langkawi.
All along the way they provided the cheer and also some little giveaways and trinkets to the many fans and enthusiasts that lined the road each day with more often than not schoolchildren from the nearby schools as they welcomed the peloton.
“Definitely this year is one the best participated Cavalcade where we had many late inclusions, ” said Cavalcade Tour head Michael Tong.
“It is definitely a great fanfare passing through the small towns especially when you have kids lining the road.”
With petroleum giant PETRONAS once again on board as the Title Sponsor, their sponsorship of the Tour leader’s Green Jersey meant that they are at the front of the line.
They are followed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the Sprinter’s Orange Jersey, Tourism Malaysia’s King of the Mountain Red Polka Dot jersey, and Terengganu State Government’s White jersey for the Best Asian.
Other than the four, the other sponsors and other national bodies that formed this year’s Cavalcade are Majlis Sukan Negera (MSN), Rakan Muda, Bubbles, NSK, Indah Water Konsortium, TNB, Roar Selamatkan Harimau Malaya and also Safe Sports Code Malaysia.
